Ya, it is a lot of stuff. You don't need it all right away, so there's a gradual accumulation to everything. And some things other parents won't need- like the GAZILLION burpcloths and outfit changes that Ben required because he spit up constantly. Or the swaddles, some babies don't like them. And Ben wasn't super into his swing, so we only used it for a few months. That kind of thing. But every nursing mama needs that nursing tank. Or three if she can afford it. And a good pillow that she likes, lanolin, nursing pads and a good comfy chair. It doesnt have to rock but it's nice if it does. The rest, eh, people will give you stuff! More stuff than you need, if you can believe it! I am so excited for the emails. I love helping out where I can, because my friends certainly helped me.

Yep. I used to think that once I got it down, I'd have 'it'. Little did I know how fluid it would all be and how many changes and adjustments I'd have to make along the way. I also realize that all his life, we are constantly weaning him of something. Naps. Nursing. Training wheels. Baby steps are always being made somewhere. Ah. Yes I miss those early days, and I'm looking forward to doing it again hopefully soon.

And no matter what they all grow up and will sleep eventually. It's definitely harder for others and when your parent it's all about empathy and as you said bringing them a cup of coffee when they need it most. Thanks for sharing Mary!!

Beautifully written and AMEN to it all! And just the reminder I needed currently going through a rough sleep patch. If only there really was a go-to method that always worked and solved all our problems...but then it wouldn't be such a wild adventure!

I think it was in "Girlfriends guide to pregnancy" that she said something to the effect of "morning sickness is way too cute a term for what our bodies go thru. It's progesterone poisoning, really".

Hang in there! And may you be spared the heart burn. :)
